The Library specializes in children's and young adult publications from 6 months to 14/15 years old. The collection currently comprises approximately 7800 items divided into the following sections: First Books, Children's/Young Adults, Multimedia, and Special Sections (Educators, Sicily, and Thematic Dossiers). The Library is a member of the Regional Library Service – Messina Center, pursuant to Article 10 of Law 17/91, DA 6688/99, and Council Circular No. 12/2000. The objectives of this service include the creation of a bibliographic database for the province of Messina and a series of initiatives, such as interlibrary loans, the promotion of reading, and the improvement of user services.

Services offered:

OPAC CONSULTATION AND DATABASE ACCESS:

The library provides the public with one terminal for access to the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue), the SBR's collective catalogue, available at the website: https://bibliome.regione.sicilia.it/opac/.do For consultation and access to documents held by the 51 participating libraries in the province of Messina. Searches can be made by author, title, free search, subject, year of publication, and other useful filters to narrow your search.

LOCAL LOAN:

It is open to all registered users (minors require a parent or guardian's ID). It is individual and lasts 30 days, renewable if no one requests the same item. Two items can be borrowed at a time (three books, or two books and one multimedia item).

SPECIAL LOAN FOR TEACHERS:

It is available to all teachers in the SBR area. You can borrow up to 10 items, including 2 multimedia items, for a maximum of 1 month. Extensions are only permitted if the items have not been reserved by other users.

INTERLIBRARY LOAN:

Allows you to request items not held by the library from other libraries in the province, region, or country, limited to works and productions related to children's literature. Shipping costs are the responsibility of the user. Loan times vary according to individual library regulations.

REFERENCE SERVICE:

Basic: for registered users, both in person and via email; Advanced: for high school and university students on topics related to childhood.

IT SERVICES:

There are 2 terminals available to users in total. The following are permitted:

• Internet access (with authorization for children under 15, duly registered. Maximum time ½ hour)
• Max. time 1 hour
• Listening/watching DVDs with headphones. Max. 1 hour.

The services described above are free. The following are not permitted:

• chat, download copyrighted material, copy files or documents using personal media (pen drives, CDs, DVDs).
