Description
On the occasion of the CONSTITUTIONAL REFERENDUM of 22 and 23 MARCH 2026, those who go to vote in their municipality of electoral registration will be able to take advantage of the travel concessions provided by the state legislation for electoral consultations (articles 116 and 117 of the Presidential Decree 30 March 1957, n. 361; Law 26 May 1969, n24 ss.mm.ii.).
Discounts for rail, air and sea travel
The tariff concessions are applied directly by the companies that manage the relevant transport services, on the basis of agreements stipulated with the state administration.
For rail transport:

- New Passenger Transport SpA,
- Trenitalia SpA
- Trenord srl
For air transport:
- Italia Trasporto Aereo SpA (ITA Airways)
For sea transport:
- GNV SpA
- Italian Shipping Company SpA
- Grimaldi Euromed SpA
- Sicilian Navigation Company ScpA
- NLG – Free Navigation of the Gulf Srl

Voters residing abroad will be able to access travel discounts (only on the Italian route) by showing the notification postcard sent by the municipality where they registered to vote or the certificate issued by the Consulate of their place of residence and, for the return trip, the electoral card duly stamped by the president of the polling station where the vote took place.
Motorway concessions for those residing abroad
The Italian Association of Motorway and Tunnel Concessionaires (AISCAT) has announced that the motorway concessionaires will adhere to the requests for exemption from the toll for people residing abroad with the same methods applied in previous electoral rounds. Therefore, the validity of the benefit will begin:
- for the outward journey: from March 13, 2026
- for the return trip: no later than April 2, 2026
To take advantage of the discount, for the outward journey you will have to show the electoral card or the notice postcard sent by the municipality of electoral registration or the certificate issued by the Consulate of the place of residence and, for the return journey, the electoral card endorsed by the president of the polling station where the vote took place.
The other companies not registered with AISCAT will continue to guarantee compliance of behavior towards people residing abroad.
