The Mayor, interpreting the widespread feelings of the community, has decided to proclaim a day of mourning to express collective condolences and the participation of Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto to the pain of the families for the premature and tragic passing of Mattia Caruso and Simone Marzullo on the day of Monday 21 July in conjunction with the funeral which will be held at the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta 17.30 hours
Throughout Monday, flags displayed on municipal and other public buildings will be kept at half-mast, as a sign of respect and sympathy for the mourning.
The Municipal Administration also invites all social organizations and citizens to join in expressing the feelings of participation of the Barcellona community in the grief of the family.
An appeal is also made to businesses to express their condolences by temporarily closing their shops during the funeral procession, as a sign of respect and solidarity.
